BASIC PLOT
On Ripleys (Sigourney Weaver) return home from Lv426 her ship crashes onto a remote planet. Ripley then discovers the reason for her crash. An alien stowaway.

One of the original scripts that got the movie started was with old Michael Biehn as the star and not Sigourney. But when the script was changed and Sigourney now back in the movie Biehn was cut from the movie. Outraged when he found out they not only cut him from the movie but they had used his image for the movie without his consent. As a result he forced them to pay him and actually got more than what he was paid for ALIENS(1986).
THOUGHTS AND BEST BITS
As a kid i always loved the opening credits they were creepy and strange but cool. Now nothing much stands out for me.
So were to kick off. Yes the title shot is cool with the creepy music an shit but right from the start the movies in trouble as the facehugger comes out of an egg under the canteen table. Now this is not possible FAN BOY alert. The alien queen cant lay any whole eggs they came from a giant egg sack suspended in the last movie she tore her fanny up trying to go after Ripley so she cant possibly lay eggs. And that just the first part lol second of all how did she manage to get away from Ripley smashing her in the face with a powerloader long enough to go into the canteen area find a nice table squat under it and then shit out an egg ? lol she cant and didnt but the fucking eggs under the table and not just under the table but under it and upside down i hope some cunt got fired for this shit mistake. And even if you take away the possibility that the queen could lay the egg under that table the alien that comes from it first jumps on Ripley SPOILERS and then lays an egg inside her BUT does not die like in every other facehugger in every other movie ? so this really is just make it up as we go day on set.
Now even if i forgive all that in the opening credits of the movie lol it still doesnt hold up to much. Its not scary its not action packed its not even that good of a watch. But there is something about it that makes it watchable and thats Fincher. Even though its Finchers first major film its still very stylish in some ways very watchable lol.
And the story is hard to swallow as well. Its prisoners that are not in prison but instead work in some kind of run down steel factory. And for some reason its all English prisoners with shaved heads making it never to impossible to tell any of them apart lol And it doesnt offer any excitement at all it offers us nothing new other than an new type of alien species in the way of an alien dog. And even thats pretty shit as its half man in suit and have really poor effect. And i do mean poor. Back in the day i thought it was crappy cgi and the first types of computer generated effects but its not its worse its a miniature the size of a Gi Joe figure thats added in later. And it looks fucking terrible.
The cast are well to English for my liking. And even after watching it for twenty years i struggle to name or pick out whos who and tell when a certain character has died. Partly because half of them dont stand out and the ones that do stand out are dressed just like the other half all bald and in grey jackets so its next to impossible to keep up with them. Of course Sigourney is good as always but even she struggles to do much with this movie.
Its an unfinished unguided unscripted story with dogy effects and some of the slowest editing ever been done in movie history and if it wasnt part of the franchise and a continuation of the movies and Ripleys character you would never watch this movie ever again. But seen as it is part of the story give it a watch some time just dont be expecting it to top ALIENS(1986) cause you will be sorely disappointed.
