GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

BASIC PLOT

In the far reaches of space an American named Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan.

CAST
Chris Pratt as Peter Quill
Zoe Saldana as Gamora
Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket
Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot

FACT
According to director James Gunn giving the middle finger to the camera in the jail sequence was Pratts idea while filming. Also Vin Diesel recorded all his lines in several different languages so they could use his voice in every version of the film.

THOUGHTS AND BEST BITS
Anything with Rocket is just great. He steals the show and is by far the best character in the movie for me.

This was great fun probably the most fun film wise this year. Made me laugh pretty much the whole way through.

Spoilers
Story wise phew this gets bat shit crazy complicated lol i mean we start with a young Peter Quill seconds before hes abducted by aliens. Cut to him now as an adult and doing a sort of fun RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK(1981) vibe as he tries to steal some old orb.... bla bla bla the group end up in jail and meet each other sort of. Then plan an escape and so on. But heres were it gets complicated they name and show you so many places and new characters that if you havent been reading the comics for years then you will have no clue who these people are or what their importance is in the world or whos in charge or anything. But its done clever enough as not to show up so much but still makes for a complicated watch until you have seen it a few times and maybe read more about the characters online or see future story lines. As for the basic plots its fairly easy but its under cooked a little its made to fast and a little rushed it should have been a little slower and a bit more explained not just scene to scene stuff. And the ending was rushed way to fast on the last action sequence as well as crazy to follow and understand why the characters didnt just die.

Acting an character wise well seen as 40% of the main cast are cgi its hard to fault much lol. Pratt was great and a modern day fun hero the type you want to be when youre a kid and he worked his as of to get the body for the look of a hero so hats off to him. Zoe is hot but her character was rushed although she does a good job acting wise her character is a complete fucking mystery to me but she was nice enough to tell me with some horrible dialogue shes a human weapon and an assassin. Yeh yeh woman calm down with the dramatics. As for whats his face Balista or what ever i really wasnt expecting much as hes really the non actor here and thats me including the fake looking raccoon but he was surprising and did a good job for the most part. As for his character well he kinda bored me at the start always rambling on shit but mid way in he shuts up and becomes fun and a much better. Now heres the big star of the movie a fucking cgi fake raccoon lol can you fucking believe it. Yup Cooper adds his voice to this angry furry little rodent and its fucking magic. Hes nasty funny smart and i have to give high praise for the movements of him as he interact and moves like a real person of sorts he doesnt look static or stupid or mechanical but is spot on. His back story is kinda explained best and as strange as it is to say the fake raccoon was the easiest to keep up with and enjoy the most. The characters are pretty damn cool especially the part when Quill explains dancing to Gamora and later she says a fucking classic line "we are all kevin bacon" haha brilliant. Its a good mix of fun and strange but in ways needed some more explaining.

Was the movie perfect no. Could it be improved on in a good few ways hell yes but for a starting movie and sort of origins for the Guardians gang its pretty damn good. Its got maybe a song or two to many in it and for me seemed to have way to much swearing for what i thought was going to be a family friendly film but these are easy fixes. The action was like most films these days light it actually felt like the bigger the action scenes were in the movie early on and apart from a huge battle at the end involving ships the smaller internal fights between characters and bad guys were pretty short and lame. And the end felt very flat and static as well as confusing.

Will i watch it again hell yeh but it needs some attention to details for future installments as to make it easier to follow and more enjoyable. But it was a fun flick its felt in part a little like a ride on a roller coaster as soon as it was over you wanted to go back and have a second go. Go watch it now
