HOMEFRONT

BASIC PLOT

A former DEA agent moves to a quiet town with his daughter. Where he soon gets tangled up with a local drugdealer.

CAST
Jason Statham as Phil Broker
James Franco as Gator

FACT
Sylvester Stallone wrote the screen play for the movie. And its said that Stallone wrote it years ago but gave up on the idea as he felt he was getting to old to play the character.

THOUGHTS AND BEST BITS
Hmmm tough call but id say the petrol station fight or gas station if your a douchebag

Ok this movie is actually good and had some potential to do better. Its got that Stallone vibe to it for sure its got some good characters and a little action and drama but done in a more realistic style. But once it picks up some pace it then hits about the half way mark it has a stroke and just for a minute it feels like THE SPECIALIST(1994) but then its gone and then the movie turns into COBRA(1986) and plot wise it goes tits up. Instead of the build up of characters and drama and tension it all just falls away and its left with a cheaper style of movie and all the characters that you like and hate start to just stop being in the movie lol and all thats left is thirty minutes or so of stall time with some action. Now its hard to explain so lets introduce the cast .....

We have Statham. Franco. Kate Bosworth. Clancy Brown aka the Kurgan. And then Winona Ryder as well as Omar Benson Miller from csi. Now Statham shows a big big improvement in acting and does a great job here with playing the dad. And little Izabela Vidovic who plays his daughter is actually really good here and shows a lot of potential sure her name sounds like shes a russian defector from the 80s but shes good.

.... Now Kate Bosworth who i thinks pretty good in a few things showed some fucking outstanding acting here she plays the shit out the crack whore mum lol i mean she nails it you hate her and her husband but no sooner have they been introduced and they soon disappear and then we get introduced to Francos character and then his henchmen and then out nowhere Ryder shows up as some crack whore waitress. And on top of that we have Clancy Brown is here and his part looks at the start to be big but turns into nothing and really a sock puppet could have filled his spot easy not that he was bad just hes got fuck all to do and even his introduction was strange and out of place and really the character didnt need to be in the movie at all in some ways. And the school teacher you thinks gonna play a bigger role in the movie and maybe get it on with Statham just again stops being in the movie lol. All in it felt like the movie needed a much bigger rewrite as its forgets half the people that are ment to be in the movie. I partly blame the director as hes the guy who gave us DONT SAY A WORD(2001) and RUNAWAY JURY(2002) and those films were good and played out well but something went wrong here. He even tries to give the characters a switch at the end of the movie and have them turn good and show a greater good like in RUNAWAY JURY(2002) when the jury votes guilty and everyones happy cause the right thing is done but this just cant happen when you have a bunch of crack whores and insane characters running around.

All in its worth a watch but dont expect to get a huge action flick or a drama its split down the middle and is just missing some finishing touches.
